The Resource Council's role is seeking and administering funding.
How are we bringing job
training to Carroll County?
The Eureka Springs Job Skills Training Center is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in the spring of 2021 at Eureka Springs High School using tele-distance learning technologies.
It is a collaborative project developed with Eureka Springs High School, the Mayor's Task Force on Economic Development, North Arkansas College, the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce, local health-care providers and the North Arkansas Partnership for Health Education -- all made possible by the generosity of the American Electric Power Foundation together with U.S. Department of Agriculture's rural development tele-distance learning funds. We're collaborating with Jeremiah House to provide locally sourced food to local school cafeterias.
Originally, the center was to be located at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters in the Eureka Springs Community Center. However, with the onset of the 2020-21 pandemic, a promise of local funding fell through. So, local leaders came up with a collaboration that was actually stronger than the original plan.
We moved everything to Eureka Springs High School! Intact is the original concept of offering college courses in two "Zoom" teleconferencing rooms, in cooperation with North Arkansas College.
Students are able to attend and interact with instructors and other students at job skills courses offered in Harrison and NAC's Carroll County Center in Berryville as well as other instruction sites.
Additionally a dedicated computer lab and interactive desktop units added in the spring of 2022 to a number of classrooms allow Eureka Springs students to participate in on-line courses from a variety of colleges nationwide.
